At Plymouth, we have a very clear vision of what our city wants to be and how we aim to serve our citizens at every point of their lives.  Our ambition is to provide outstanding wholly integrated services to our communities.

The relationships we have with our partners and the commitment within the People Directorate and wider Council drive us to provide the best joined-up services possible.  Our work is regularly recognised by national bodies and inspection regimes.  We know that early intervention can improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable citizens in our communities and all those who support them.

We are looking for a new Strategic Director for People, who is not fazed by the further challenges that we are about to face; has the ambition and tenacity to modernise services by adopting new ways of working; utilising new technologies, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with collaborative partners both regionally and nationally.

As the statutory lead of Adult Social care for our council, you will play the leading role in working with the Director of Public Health and Director of Children’s services in a federated approach to ensure there is effective join up across these areas.

It is time to be curious and reimagine what integrated service provision could look like; to inspire a committed, talented workforce; to be bold and honest about what really needs to be done.

If you want to be part of a dynamic corporate team; work with a dedicated workforce who are truly passionate about providing high-quality People Service and live in Plymouth; a City that is a jewel in the Southwest peninsula. Those who experience our city first-hand feel like they have found a place where there can pursue other activities. This is so much more than a job and we would love to hear from you!
